Happy New Year & Goodbye 2012

Really can't believe its that time again all ready (or whatever clique thing) to write my year end State of the Trickykid Address -

This was a really strange year and for me personally one of the weirdest years of my life. If you look on the national landscape it seems I'm not alone and their is a collective feeling of oddity all around.
We started the year doing DJ gigs with Sasha Grey & Shephard Farey & by March we had met up with a powerhouse trio from Texas called the Phuss that did alot to shape our year.
The 35 Denton Festival that has served as our pre-cursor to SXSW really heated up this year and is becoming a major part of our calendar year.
As we headed to Austin for SXSW we changed things up with a having a Day Party, the first day of the festival that may not have been as successful as last year's but certainly a ton less stressful, and we saw Jack White destroy 6th St with a show for the ages.
But not before experiecning one of the weirdest birthdays of my life.
In April we spent Record Store Day & weekend with The Ting Tings before heading out for a brief tour of Texas with Sage Francis.
By May, our longtime compatriots Ween finally decided to call it a day under bizarre circumstances even for them.
And sadly we also lost Adam Yauch to cancer a few weeks later.
I spent the Summer touring as a DJ and did some first time gigs that were really fun, first the Journey's Skate Tour and then attending my first anime festival by DJ'n the after-show rave at Akon this year.
We then hooked up with Anthrax on the Rockstar Energy Drink Tour before landing back in NYC.

New York was even a weirder place than usual this Summer and I just never felt right.
By September we found ourselves back in Texas headed to Austin that we capped the Summer off with an unorgettble week that included hanging with Peaches, the Go-Gos & Saul Williams and interviewing Henry Rollins for NPR.org - but not before heading back to Denton for a Hot Wet Mess.

In October we met singer-songwriter Zoe Pardee and spent Halloween with Mike Patton & Tomahawk but not before a bitch named Sandy came to the East Coast and nearly took it all away.
Nov saw the debut of Tessa Makes Love featuring Ian McDonald of King Crimson and the re-election of President Obama.
After a fun, but again weird (but definetly fruitful) Holiday Season once again my hometown of Dallas is staging the biggest electronic dance party in North America for NYE with the event Lights All Night that puts it in the running for perhaps the place to be for the biggest party on NYE this year.
Whatever you decide to do, have the best freaking time ever and be safe and look for us in the New Year, there are going to be alot of changes for us both professitnaly and personally in the new year that we are excited to share and not to share with you :)

Thanks to everyone we worked with this year - and Happy New Year!

SXSW 2012

It's that time again (already?) Remember what happened last year? We are pleased to announce the 3rd Annual SXSW Brawl-For-All !!

Despite the heaps of national press we received last year, we also learned a few lessons so we have switched things up a bit - We are doing a day party this year and its on the Wed March 14th the first day of the music portion. This is for several reasons:

a) We don't want everyone burnt out by Sat
b) As to not have as much competition
c) We wanna go to those parties too

We also put ourselves in the hands of our fine friends at Hype Machine where they have created the Hype Hotel - We hope this is our best SXSW yet! Come see us!

Anthrax mentions Trickykid in global Press Release

Starting off the year right here at Trickykid, as with the news that Anthrax is hitting the road again this month in Las Vegas (we will be there) included in that press release was a listing of the top reviews. They put us in some pretty high-profile company along with Spin, Revolver and Metal Hammer - We are excited/honored to be a part of it.

Here's the press release -

2012 Will See Anthrax Touring Extensively Beginning with U.S. Trek on 1/22

LOS ANGELES, CA - WEDNESDAY, January 4, 2012 -- Having made one of 2011's most impressive rock'n'roll comebacks that included the 9/13/11 release of the band's long-awaited new album Worship Music that landed on boatloads of "Best of 2011..." lists, metal masters ANTHRAX will keep the pedal to the metal in 2012. The band launches the New Year with the delivery to radio of a second single from Worship Music, "I'm Alive," and plans to tour extensively beginning January 22 with round two of a U.S. co-headline tour with fellow thrash titans, Testament (dates are below).

Twenty-eleven also saw Anthrax play two Big Four shows in the U.S. with fellow thrash/speed metal architects Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, the second taking place at New York's Yankee Stadium, making it an emotional hometown show for the New York born-and-bred members of Anthrax.

As Anthrax's Scott Ian summed it up, "2011 was the best year of my life."

Dates for Leg Two of the Anthrax/Testament U.S. tour are as follows:

Happy New Year & Goodbye 2011

Really can't believe its that time again all ready (or whatever clique thing) to write my year end State of the Trickykid Address -

This was a banner year for us starting with endorsements at the NAMM Convention in January, to making National Headlines with the insanity of our dueling showcases at SXSW in March.
April saw us hit California to host a suite at the Coachella site that brought the Big Four of Thrash all together in the States for the first time, and we managed to spend five nights with the Purple One while we were there.
The Summer was a confusing blur of mass touring that lead us to the Fall that found us back with the Big Four one again, this time on the East Coast with a legendary blowout at Yankee Stadium.
We were honored to participate with All Tommorrow's Parties for their I'll Be Your Mirror festival in Asbury Park a few weeks later and having the priveledge to spend four days with Portishead.
After just celebrating one of the best Christmas seasons I can ever remember, its time to ring in the New Year this weekend.
Ween begins a three-night bitch-slapping of Denver tonight that will culminate with the incineration of the entire state by the end of Saturday's New Year's Eve detontation.
My hometown of Dallas is staging the biggest electronic dance party in North America for NYE with the event Lights All Night that puts it in the running for perhaps the place to be for the biggest party on NYE this year.
We also have events in NYC and New Orleans this year, so whatever you decide to do, have the best freaking time ever and be safe and look for us in the New Year, we got alot up our sleeves that we are excited to show you.

Thanks to everyone we worked with this year:

Never Got Caught to tour with Clutch/Doomriders in December

It’s been a great couple of months for Boston’s Never Got Caught. After signing with new management, and having their sophomore effort, Creepshow maintain a Top 40 slot on College Radio, the band is now set to hit the road for a late December East Coast Jaunt with Maryland legends Clutch. The run will include a triumphant homecoming show in Boston, as well as a New Year’s Blow Out in New Jersey.

Never Got Caught is the new project from brothers Bryan and Bill Hinkley. Although they are best known as the guitarist and drummer of the Boston hardcore band "Tree," the music is a big departure from Tree. While it maintains the intensity, it reaches a different level of depth and raw emotion.

Creepshow the punishing new release by Boston's Never Got Caught, promises to be everywhere soon.

NEVER GOT CAUGHT JOINS THE TRICKYKID ROSTER

We are super pleased and excited to announce that Boston's Never Got Caught has joined the Trickykid Entertainment Group!! We are long time fans of the band and to have them be apart of our organization we couldn't be excited.  The band is now represented by our staff and any interested parties should inquire within.

The band just earlier this year released their sophmore effort "Creepshow", that is loaded with hit after freaking hit. An "unskipable" record doesn't come along very often and this is one those cds that you just simply restart after you have let it play all the way through.  With new management in tow, a killer new record, and a high-profile tour this Fall, this band is soon to be everywhere. Don't miss their next show:
